Congratulations to our students on winning the Cumann na mBunscol in football, hurling and rounders.  2022

Mayo N.S. is a very active school and participates in a lot sports such as Gaelic Football, Soccer, Hurling, Athletics and Handball. Every year the school participates in the Cumann na mBunscoil football and hurling finals and has reached finals day on a number of occasions recently. We are very proud to see past pupils going on to wear the blue and white jersey of Laois. 
 Our school participates in the Boys Primary Schools Soccer tournament each year and has represented the school very successfully. Hurling is a new sport to Mayo N.S. and many of the pupils have shown great promise. Each year the school participates in Cross Country Athletics competition which is held in St Abban’s and has brought back a number of medals each year. The school has also been represented in national finals in handball over the years.  
Each year the school holds a very successful Active Schools Week where the pupils participate in a variety of sports and become active throughout the day. Activities such as Stop and Dance, Table Tennis, Hip Hop have been very popular. Each year the school holds a sports day which is great fun and the emphasis being on participation over winning. IT has been noted by a number of visitors to our school how fit and active our pupils are. 
Our school is very grateful to local clubs Crettyard GAA, St Abban’s Athletic Club, Crettyard Soccer Club and Monavea Handball Club for all their support.  ​
